Fmr. Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum has announced he is dropping out of the GOP race and rescinding his bid to be the next President of the United States of America. This news comes after Santorum lost three contests in a row last week in Wisconsin, Maryland, and the District of Columbia further weakening and ultimatley undermining his position as the possible Republican nominee.

Santorum faced an improbable road to the White House, as he was trailing Mitt Romney by 376 delegatesand would have had to win over two thirds of the remaining delegates to reach the 1,144 threshold needed to clinch the nomination.

He does, however, insist that despite his decision to end his campaign immediately, that he will continue to fight. Presumably for the causes he has championed the entire race, such as the banning of pornography.

It should finally be noted that the last time Rick Santorum was actually tested the ballot box, he lost by an abyssmal 18 points. It remains one of the highest margins of loss ever in the history of American politics.
