Madonna posted the N-word on Instagram

The Internet is in a tizzy after Madonna posted a photo of her son boxing with a caption that included the word n*gga.  The pop icon’s message said:

No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disn*gga

Madonna's now deleted post.

Madonna’s now deleted post.

Despite the tactless statement of encouragement itself, Madonna embarrassed herself to millions of people who have responded negatively to her post, which she soon deleted.  Unfortunatley for Madonna the Internet does not forget.  In hopes of damage control Madonna issued a public apology via The AP that said:

I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram. It was not meant as a racial slur. I am not a racist. There’s no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention.  It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white. I appreciate that it’s a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression.

Following the statement to the AP Madonna also posted another message apologizing to her Instagram followers directly:

MY job is to inspire and bring people together . My message has always been about tolerance and non judgement. The last thing I want to do is bring chaos or cause separation in anyway. #revolutionoflove

Will Madonna be able to stave off the label of being declared a racist?  Who knows.  Some already consider her a poor mother after she posted images of her underage son and friends with bottles of alcohol on New Years Eve.
