Walmart employee trampled to death in NY Black Friday sale, pregnant woman injured

Long Island Walmart employee Jdimytai Damour, 34, was trampled to death during Walmart’s Black Friday sale in 2008 by frenzied customers foaming at the mouth at the thought of saving money on cheaply made foreign goods.

An anonymous employee spoke out about Damour’s death:

I look at these people’s faces and I keep thinking one of them could have stepped on him.  How could you take a man’s life to save $20 on a TV?

The store was described was ‘out of control’ and ‘utter chaos’ by Nassau County police spokesman Lt. Michael Fleming, with as many as 2, 000 customers standing outside of Walmart while a mob taunted others to “push the doors in.”  Moments later despicable individuals began flooding the store in a scene of pure selfishness.

Damour’s colleague Jimmy Overby, 43, was also attacked and witnessed Damour’s demise:

He was bum-rushed by 200 people.  They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me.  They took me down, too.  I didn’t know if I was going to live through it.  I literally had to fight people off my back.

Other employees climbed on top of vending machines to avoid being trampled by the mob.  Four shoppers were injured, including a woman who was eight months pregnant.  One may raise the question why a woman at such a term would have attended an event that is known to be dangerous and aggressive.
