Tea Party president demands Obama prove he isn’t gay and doesn’t smoke crack

The president of Tea Party Nation Corporations, based in Tenessee, is Judson Phillips. He recently wrote an essay that made several ridiculous assertions that if Mitt Romney was going to be forced to release his tax returns that President Obama should, in kind, release medical records. This, Phillips feels, would help prove that the president is not a drug addict, and that he has never had gay sex.

Phillips bases his statements and implications on the claims of a career conman of 29 years named Larry Sinclair, who in 1999 says that he had sex with President Obama and then shared some crack with him. Quite the source. Sinclair also published a book about the alleged incident, which I will not name to deprive him of free exposure. The profit involved in stoking the fears of others might be a clue into the mentality of someone who would make up a story like this. He certainly did not write the book for free.

Please note that during a press conference for his book, Larry Sinclair was arrested for fraud.

The Tea Partier went on to ask, “Is Obama an addict? Was he an addict in the past? These are all legitimate questions to ask about a man who has his hands on the nuclear trigger.”

Except that the president has had his finger on the ‘trigger’ for over three years. This entire letter is simply designed to play to the lowest common denominator of politics. It shows quite clearly that The Tea Party is afraid of the president, and that they have nothing to use against him. They, therefore, dig into their bag of smears.

This particular claim is especially ridiculous, and desperate. The right wing hopes to deflect questions away about Mitt Romney’s past and why he refuses to release his tax returns in the name of transparency. It has been a bane to his campaign, and many top Conservative pundits concede that he is involved in a losing battle.
