6 Presidents Who Appeared in Ads
Mikhail Gorbachev
In 1997, Mikhail Gorbachev appeared in a commercial for Pizza Hut. The shooting took place in Moscow in the
welcoming company of the electorate. According to rumors, the budget of the video was about one million dollars,
and the main character, having received a check, invested money in social activities.
After his appearance in the video, numerous invitations from various companies fell down on the most famous
Russian politician in the world, and in 2000, Mikhail Gorbachev appeared in an advertisement for the Austrian
national railways.
In 2013, the ex-president took part in the advertising of the Louis Vuitton brand and he was accompanied by Andre
Agassi, Steffi Graf, and Catherine Deneuve. It was a photoshoot for the Vogue magazine. The lens of the camera on
this occasion was entrusted to Annie Leibowitz, and Berlin was chosen as the site for the ad. The image of each of
the heroes was supposed to demonstrate to the audience the value of the journey, along with the reliable accessories
of Louis Vuitton.
Ronald Reagan
Before becoming a politician and eventually a President, Ronald Reagan, as you remember, was an actor. In 1951,
he got all of his charisma and took part in the promotional campaign for a product of the Chesterfield tobacco
company.
Donald Trump
In 1995, the notorious Donald Trump appeared in a Pizza Hut commercial. He was accompanied by his wife, Ivana.
- It’s wrong, isn’t it?
- But it feels so right!
And then Donald and Ivana start eating pizza the wrong way. They start with a crust because it is stuffed with
cheese.
Trump, perhaps, holds the record for participation in advertising campaigns among current politicians. There were
so many products that he got to promote, including McDonald’s, visa, Trump jackets, and mattresses ... Which,
incidentally, is understandable, given his field of activity before the presidency
Barack Obama
Barack Obama did not stay aside from the field of advertising campaigns, it happened only once when he took part
in a non-commercial project. In 2015, Obama appeared in the role of himself in a video promoting the medical
reform of his name - Obamacare, which he initiated and strenuously implemented. The purpose of the video was to
promote Healthcare.gov.
Nicola Sarkozy
There is an old poster that you can find online, it has a small blonde boy on it, that boy is Nicolas Sarkozy, and he
took part in an advertising campaign for the laundry detergent called Bonux. Little Nicolas is depicted as a happy
kid, just playing with his toy, which came as a gift with each package of Bonux.
Vatslav Havel
In 2011, the AAA auto automotive distributor featured the first Czech president, Vaclav Havel, on mutually
beneficial terms in one of their advertising campaign. The pensioner told the people to purchase one of four
thousand used cars from a distributor. For participation in advertising, Havel, as they say, asked not for money, but
for a car for his charitable foundation. Sounds noble and pathetic at the same time.
In 2011, the Italian brand Benetton launched the Unhate campaign, which featured the leaders of the warring states.
Advertising posters depicted Kim Jong-il and Lee Myung-bak kissing — the leaders of North and South Korea;
There were also Benjamin Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas, the key figures in the Arab-Israeli conflict; Angela
Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy, Barrack Obama and Hugo Chavez, Egyptian imam Ahmed el-Tayeb and the Pope
Benedict XVI.
